New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 103 runs on Tuesday, knocking the latter out of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.

New Zealand batted first and scored a respectable 178 runs before limiting Pakistan to 75 runs in 20 overs.

Anna Browning and Tash Codyre sent Pakistan’s openers, Shawaal Zulfiqar and Eyman Fatima, back to the pavilion for a duck. Shawaal was caught off guard by Browning on the first pitch of the inning.

Meanwhile, Warda Yousaf (5), Syeda Aroob Shah (9), and Laiba Nasir (4) all failed to reach double figures after losing wickets quickly.

Aliza Khan (11) and Areesha Noor (24) batted for a longer period of time, but the Kiwi bowlers did not allow them to score freely.

Codyre took two wickets for the young White Ferns, while Browning and Wakelin each took one.

Earlier, New Zealand set a scoreboard target of 178 runs.

Opening pair Anna Browning and Emma McLeod laid the groundwork with 31 and 32 runs, respectively.

Georgia Plimmer was the standout performer for the Kiwis, scoring 53 runs off 38 balls with five boundaries.

However, the middle order did not contribute to the top order’s score, so the total could have been much higher.

Anosha Nasir took three wickets for Pakistan, Mahnoor Aftab took two, and Rida Aslam and Syeda Aroob Shah each took one.
