Virat Kohli hit another century in the last One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

Virat Kohli put on a show in the series finale against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram, scoring his 46th ODI century. The century was his 21st in ODIs at home, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s previous best of 20.

The century also moves him closer to Sachin’s overall ODI century count of 49, leaving him only three behind the Little Master.

Kohli reached his century in 85 balls but changed gears after that, finishing on 166* off 110 balls. This is currently his second-best ODI score and his highest at home. His spectacular effort included 13 fours and eight maximums, the most he has hit in an ODI innings.

It was a record-breaking day for Virat Kohli, who eclipsed Mahela Jayawardene in the all-time ODI run-getters list during his innings. He is now sixth in the world with 12754 runs, trailing only Sanath Jayasuriya (13430), Ricky Ponting (13704), Kumar Sangakkara (14234), and Sachin Tendulkar (18426).

When India won the toss earlier in the day, they decided to bat first. When Rohit Sharma left, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli used a century stand to launch an offensive against the opposition after the openers provided India the ideal start. As India set Sri Lanka a lofty mark of 391, Gill reached his second ODI century (116 off 97 balls), and Kohli put the finishing touches on the victory.

In retaliation, Sri Lanka was dismissed for just 73 runs, with Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets to lead the way. India’s victory margin of 317 runs was the largest in men’s ODI cricket history.
