Najam Sethi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Management Committee, has asked India to tour Pakistan for this year’s Asia Cup.

The 2023 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in Pakistan, however it is likely to be moved to a neutral location due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) worries about travelling Pakistan.

“Of course, we want to hold the Asia Cup in Pakistan, given that all of the best foreign teams are currently touring the country,” said Khan. England, Australia, New Zealand, and the West Indies have all visited Pakistan, demonstrating that there is no longer a problem,” Sethi said in an exclusive interview with Sports source.

“There is no security issue,” as India previously stated. But, even though Pakistan had security difficulties, we still travelled to India for the World Cup [in 2016].

“We are not requesting India to come and play in Pakistan because it is our right. When the Indian team previously played in Lahore, they received a lot of support from the Pakistani fans. Nationalism will persist, but cricket must remain.”

In response to a question regarding moving the Asia Cup to a neutral venue, Sethi stated that the decision will be based on federal government guidelines.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it,” says the author. We’ll check with the government, and if they say it’s alright, it’s okay. “If they say no, it’s no,” Sethi remarked when asked if the Asia Cup might be moved to a neutral location.

It should be recalled that Pakistani cricket officials intimated in October last year that they would pull out of next year’s World Cup in India, a day after officials there said they would not send a side to the 2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan.

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and president of the Asian Cricket Council, stated that India “cannot” send a team to Pakistan and that the competition would be shifted to a neutral location.

His announcement surprised Pakistan, with officials warning that it could “divide” the world cricket community.

The PCB stated Shah’s comments “may effect Pakistan’s visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and subsequent ICC Events in India in the 2024-2031 cycle”.

The Pakistan board stated that it had not received any formal contact from the ACC and that the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup were granted to Pakistan during Shah’s leadership.

Despite being regarded as one of sports’ greatest rivalries, India and Pakistan have not played each other on home turf in any version of the game since 2012, and only compete in multinational events on neutral grounds.
