PCB decided to host exhibition match between Gladiators and Zalmi
The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the nation’s largest cricket tournament, is due to begin on February 13 and run through March 19 in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCBnew )’s management committee, led by Najam Sethi, is committed to engaging fans from around the country in the run-up to the event.
Soon after taking over as chairman of the management committee, Sethi declared that Quetta (subject to security clearance) would be the fifth location for the eighth season of the PSL.
On February 5, which is recognized as “Kashmir Day” across the nation, PCB has chosen to hold an exhibition game between the home team Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in order to engage Quetta supporters.
The sources claim that last weekend, PCB conducted a reconnaissance of Quetta’s sole cricket stadium with the help of the production and marketing teams.
The PCB is attempting to determine a budget for just hosting exhibition games in the city. PCB is dedicated to providing cricket fans with top-notch action, working with Core Commander Quetta, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor.
According to sources, development work at Bugti Stadium is now underway. After a long absence, the picturesque ground, which previously held only ODIs in 1996, will once again stage international grade cricket.
A Gladiators spokesman, on the other hand, confirmed to this correspondent that their full-strength Pakistani players will be ready for the scheduled exhibition match versus Zalmi.
“We are overjoyed to be playing a match at our home for the first time,” stated the spokesperson. “PCB has made a good decision; Quetta fans, like us, are eagerly anticipating this encounter. We are hopeful that all of our Pakistani players would compete in this competition. This is a must-have for everyone who enjoys a good challenge. I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly “He continued.
The exhibition match will be led by former Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and current national captain Babar Azam.
