Lahore: Mickey Arthur asked Pakistan Cricket Board for a time as PCB wants to reappoint Mickey as their head coach.
As per the details, Pakistan Cricket Board is eager to have him return and Chairman Najam Sethi is awaiting a response to the letter.
Meanwhile, Arthur is eager to take on the duty but needs some time to reflect on the terms of the contract. As he has signed a three-year contract with the English county Derbyshire and he will reply to PCB after settling the matter with the county.
The insider stated: “Arthur, who is under a lengthy contract with Derbyshire County, has asked for some time to think about his options and position and has said he would get back later this month with a firm response.”
According to the source, Arthur had additionally indicated an interest in returning to international cricket as a coach. He is expected to arrive in Pakistan in a few weeks.
However, the series against New Zealand is the last assignment of head coach Saqlain Mushtaq and the contract of Saqlain Mushtaq and Shaun Tait will expire on February 9.
Whereas, Umar Gul is a strong candidate for fast bowling coach and Shahid Afridi has also suggested the name of Umar Gul. The PCB will make long-term appointments after the PSL and before the series
