Ramiz Raja currently no plans to resume his commentary career

Ramiz Raja, a former Test cricketer who distinguished himself as a skilled commentator after retiring, unexpectedly transitioned into an executive position after Imran Khan, the former prime minister and patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), named him chairman for three years of the nation’s cricket governing body in September 2021.

The cricketer-turned-commentator Raja faced many difficulties upon taking the helm of the PCB because, prior to his chairmanship, he frequently criticized Pakistan’s performance on his YouTube channel.

Raja made some rapid and courageous moves after having played cricket and working in this sector for so long, starting with the elimination of the coaching structure chosen by the previous management and the introduction of the first-ever Pakistan Junior League (PJL).

His tenure at the PCB was cut short after the current Prime Minister and PCB patron Shehbaz Sharif nominated two-time chairman Najam Sethi and his 14-member management team to enforce the 2014 constitution. As a result, the 2019 constitution was repealed.

Following his dismissal, he attacked political involvement in the cricket board in a series of interviews with various local channels.

Meanwhile, his supporters hoped to see him return to the commentary box, but when asked about it during an interview with private source, the cricketer-turned-administrator was dubious.

“If there is any plan to return to commentary, I will share it,” Raja answered.

Before becoming chairman, Raja’s judgement of Pakistan’s cricket team’s performance on his YouTube channel was always the talk of the town. People frequently compared his views as chairman and cricket expert on YouTube during his term.

In response to a question regarding if there is any difference in expressing oneself in two separate roles, Raja stated that he does not agree with what people say.

“There is no distinction. That is your assumption. I believe I always spoke frankly about everything “he stated.
