Shahid Afridi ‘available to help’ after his short tenure as chief selector
Shahid Afridi, the interim chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stated that he is “ready to help” after his brief term may have come to an end with the conclusion of the ODI series against New Zealand on Friday in Karachi.
Pakistan was defeated by New Zealand by two wickets in the final game of the three-match series at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
With a 2-1 advantage, the victory gave the Kiwis the series victory over the home team.
Following the conclusion of the series, Afridi praised the PCB for considering him for the lead position and expressed his hope that the fans were pleased with his audacious choices.
“Thanks to the PCB for entrusting me with the chief selector’s role for #PakvNZ series. Thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility. Hope, I lived up to the expectations of the fans with brave/bold decisions. Will always be available to help Pakistan cricket in any way I can,” he wrote.

The former captain of the national team praised the opponents for winning and expressed confidence in the ability of the Men in Green to recover more effectively.
It is important to note that former Pakistan captain Afridi has been named the interim chair of the selection committee for the home series against New Zealand by the PCB Management Committee, which is helmed by Najam Sethi.
Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum will also be on the panel, and Haroon Rashid, a member of the management committee, will serve as the convener.
In the last ODI, Pakistan decided to bat first and set a solid goal of 281 runs, which the Kiwis were able to reach in 48.1 overs.
He scored 63 runs off 42 balls, including four boundaries and an equal amount of maximums, making him the middle-order batter’s most impressive performer.
After scoring a hundred runs in the second ODI, opening hitter Devon Conway hit a half-century. 52 runs off 65 balls were scored by the left-handed batter.
In the meantime, Kane Williamson, the captain, also made a critical 53 runs off 68 balls to start the chase.
