Shahid Khan Afridi praised move to hold PSL in Quetta
Shahid Khan Afridi, a former flamboyant all-rounder, commended the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Baluchistan government, and the Pakistan Army for choosing to hold the match in Quetta.
On February 5, Quetta is scheduled to host an exhibition game between the Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi teams as a lead-up to the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In this game, Afridi will compete alongside Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and other national heroes.
Afridi praised the move, saying it’s a positive gesture to give the people of Quetta an opportunity to celebrate.
“I am very pleased to play in Quetta,” Afridi said in a press conference on Monday. “I’d want to thank and congratulate PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, the Baluchistan government, and the Pakistan Army for taking this move,” he said.
“My foundation has worked a lot in Baluchistan and I know the people there direly need such activities. “I hope for and anticipate wonderful scenes in Quetta on February 5,” he continued.
On Monday, ticket sales for the eagerly anticipated game began. Each ticket costs PKR 20. Bolan Cricket Stadium, Bugti Stadium, Jan Mall, Mariabad (Gulzari Travels), and Airport Road are places where fans can get tickets (Almehmood Mart).
The illustrious competition will begin at 11 a.m. (PST). The game will be live-streamed on PTV Sports.
Team Yellow’s captain will be Babar, while Team Purple’s captain will be Sarfaraz. Star cricketers like Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Haris, Danish Aziz, and Saim Ayub will join Babar in his team.
Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and Umar Akmal will be on Sarfaraz’s purple team.
