Tom Latham of New Zealand praised Pakistan’s batters Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Sohail following the hosts’ victory over the Kiwis in the first ODI on Monday at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

Thanks to captain Babar, Rizwan, and Fakhar’s fifty-plus scores, Pakistan defeated the Kiwis by six wickets on Monday in the opening ODI.

“I believe we did not have enough runs. We managed to look for wickets at crucial times when we threatened to look for a big partnership. Things would have been different if we were close to the 300-run mark. The fight we showed with the ball to keep that run rate up was really good, but credit goes to how Babar, Rizwan, and Haris came out and played exceptionally well in that situation “said the wicket-keeper batter.

The 30-year-old stated once more that more runs on the scoreboard would have changed the outcome, but that New Zealand will learn from their mistakes and put them into practise in the coming days.

The left-handed batsman also praised Usama Mir, a rookie who took two wickets and was aggressive with his economy.

“He bowled exceptionally well. A fantastic leg spinner. He bowls at a good pace and gets a little bit of turn off the surface. I’m sure he’ll be pleased with how his debut went, and we’ll see him a little more this series “He stated.
