Chloe Tyron helped South African women to win Tri-series final
Chloe Tyron‘s 57 helped the South African women win the Tri-series final on Thursday with a commanding five-wicket victory after the South African bowlers combined to hold India to 109/4.
Despite Harleen Deol’s 46, the Indian batting team faltered after deciding to bat first, managing only 109/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
After a poor start in which they lost two wickets for 21 runs, the touring side was unable to build up a good total on the board as wickets were lost at regular intervals.
Deol, on the other hand, was Harmanpreet Kaur’s lone hope, scoring 46 off 56 deliveries and smashing four boundaries.
India only made a meagre 109/4 because the right-handed batter did not receive any assistance from the other end.
Ayabonga Khaka and Sune Luus each struck out a batter as South Africa’s bowling assault was led by Nonkululeko Mlaba, who finished with 2/16.
With two overs to spare and a target of 110 to chase, South Africa easily completed the task thanks to Tryon’s quick-fire 57-run knock.
Tryon, who came out to bat when her team was down in the run chase at 21/3, quickly turned the situation around with her aggressive hitting before she received the help she had been waiting for from Nadine de Klerk, who played a cool-headed knock of 17 not out.
With just 32 deliveries, Tryon scored the most runs for South Africa with 57, smashing four boundaries and two sixes.
For India, Sneh Rana took two wickets, while Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Renuka Singh each managed to take one.
