Fakhar Zaman of the Lahore Qalandars has talked about his batting strategy in front of the eighth Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The left-hander was crucial to Qalandars’ productive PSL 7 campaign. His excellent strike-rate of 152.72 was the best among the top five run scorers in the previous season, and his 588 runs were the most scored by any batter.

“As an opener, I want to utilize the initial six overs as there are gaps with two fielders outside the 30-yard circle. “I aim to go for boundaries from the first delivery and make the most of the excellent deliveries by rotating the strike,” Zaman was quoted as saying by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a news release on Saturday.

“Many elements influence an aggressive opener’s natural game, including mindset and team demand. “I believe that having an aggressive mindset is critical,” he added.

When a team is pursuing a modest aim, Zaman acknowledged that a change in strategy is necessary.

“The approach normally varies in the second innings when you are going after a target. If you’re aiming for a small total, you’ll have more time to adjust and won’t be under as much pressure. “However, if you’re pursuing a huge total, you have to attack,” he remarked.

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13 before the tournament’s first match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champion Multan Sultans; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.

Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
