Azam Khan, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Islamabad United, said on Friday that his father, Quetta Gladiators head coach Moin Khan, had commended him for hitting 97 runs in the 13th game of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL).

After his outstanding performance in front of the crowd, Azam Khan addressed the media and stated: “When I saw him [Moin Khan] after the match, he commended my innings and advised me to continue playing.”

The Gladiators, who had dropped their previous five PSL 2023 games, were destroyed by Khan.

Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team, commended Azam Khan on Twitter for his game-play. Nicely done [Azam Khan], boom boom innings, fearless [PSL8]!, he wrote.

“My father is my biggest motivation,” claimed Azam Khan. He added, “Dad gave me such a strong mind and constantly supported me to achieve well in the face of all the challenges. He already informed me of the criticism and supported my defense.

I intend to continue making dad proud, Azam Khan said.

The right-handed batsman hit nine boundaries and eight maximums while scoring 97 runs in just 42 balls.

In the final five overs, he assisted United in scoring 92 runs. His impressive strike rate of 230.95 led United to the highest score in this tournament—220-6.

In T20 cricket, strike rate is very important. I really like it since it’s my style of play, added Khan.

“You have a very short window of time to set up when you bat as I do. You must be prepared to hit the ball hard in this situation, “Added he.

The little batter gave his parents, who were in the stadium watching the game, credit for his game-winning hit.

Khan, who has played for Pakistan in three T20 Internationals, declared himself “healthy” enough to do so once more.

“I make an effort to take advantage of any chance I get. I’m in decent shape and ready to represent Pakistan whenever the chance arises “Finally, he said.

It should be remembered that Azam Khan was named man of the match yesterday in Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena due to his outstanding performance against the Gladiators.

On its official Twitter account, Islamabad United also dubbed Khan “Sheru of the day.”
