LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record

• LeBron James of  Los Angeles Lakers broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record.
• He become NBA’s all-time leading scorer in  133-130 loss to Oklahoma City Thunder.
• He needed 36 points to break the record after the third quarter.

During his team’s matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers broke Kareem Abdul-long-standing Jabbar’s record to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

In a 133-130 loss to the Thunder, LeBron scored 38 points, breaking Abdul Jabbar’s 1989 record of 38,387 points.

Abdul-Jabbar first surpassed the scoring threshold in April 1984, eight months before LeBron was born.

“I just want to say thank you to the Laker faithful, you guys are one of a kind. To be able to be in the presence of a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me,” said the 38-year-old.

LeBron needed 36 points to break the record after the third quarter, and he did so with a fadeaway jumper, giving him a career total of 38,390 points.

LeBron raised both arms in joy as Abdul-Jabbar, who was in attendance for the game at the Lakers’ home floor, stood and applauded.

The entire basketball community praised LeBron on Twitter for making history.

It should be noted that the game was temporarily halted for a ceremony to commemorate the win, during which LeBron used a microphone to speak on the floor.
