Najam Sethi tweets, ‘PSL 8 matches in Lahore, Pindi shall continue as scheduled’

• Najam Sethi announced that PSL 8 matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi will be played as scheduled.
• Due to CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi Saheb’s agreement to share the cost of lighting routes.
• Shehbaz Sharif assured the PCB of his “full support.”

Najam Sethi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s management committee, announced that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi will be played as scheduled.

Sethi shared on Twitter that CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi agreed to share the cost of lighting routes.

“Good news: CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi Saheb has been kind enough to agree to share cost of lighting routes during PSL matches in Lahore. PSL8 matches in Lahore and Pindi shall continue as scheduled,” he tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is also the patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), assured the PCB of his “full support” as the deadlock between the PCB and the Punjab government continued.

PCB management committee chairman Najam Sethi approached PM Shehbaz about hosting PSL matches in Punjab on time.

According to sources, Sethi reiterated in his conversation with PM Shehbaz that the PCB will not pay the additional cost for security arrangements.

He added that if the Punjab government does not withdraw the demand, the PCB will be forced to relocate matches to Karachi.

It should be noted that the PCB and PSL franchises unanimously decided on Friday not to pay the Punjab government an additional Rs450 million.
