Pakistan wins spot in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
As the highest-ranked team outside of the six direct qualifiers and the hosts, Pakistan has qualified for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
As the top three teams in Group 1 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa secured direct qualifying, while England, India, and the West Indies also advanced from Group 2.
As the next-highest-ranked side in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of February 27, 2023, Pakistan qualified to play as the tournament’s host for the ninth iteration. Bangladesh already had a spot reserved for them.
A global qualifier will be held in early 2024 in order to fill the final two places. This tournament’s dates and locations have not yet been made public.
Sri Lanka and Ireland are the only participating teams from this year’s competition to not advance directly. Ireland is presently rated tenth, while Sri Lanka is currently ranked eighth.
The Women’s T20 World Cup was won by Australia for the sixth time when they defeated South Africa by 19 runs in the championship match on Sunday at Newlands.
Beth Mooney, who batted first and scored an unbeaten 74 in a total of 156 for six, served as the cornerstone of the Australian innings.
