Patrick Mahomes selected as NFL’s Most Valuable Player of year
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has been selected the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2022 season, his second time receiving the honour.
With 41 touchdown passes in the regular season and a career-high 5,250 passing yards, the 27-year-old, who was also named the 2018 MVP, led the NFL.
After contributing to the Chiefs’ 14-3 regular-season record, Mahomes garnered 48 of the 50 first-place votes.
At the NFL’s end-of-season awards ceremony, Damar Hamlin also made a statement.
Mahomes was not present at Symphony Hall in Phoenix, where the Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57 on Sunday.
He expressed gratitude to his family, the Chiefs organization, and his teammates in a video message before stating that his goal is to win the NFL title game for a second time.
“Every day, we give all we have to go for the ultimate goal – the Super Bowl,” Mahomes stated. “Let’s keep going for that dream this weekend.”
Hamlin unexpectedly showed up in Phoenix on Wednesday to accept a community award from the NFL Players Association. He then joined the medical team that saved his life on stage.
The 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety had a heart arrest on game day, January 2, and was revived there.
