Nouman Zaka in Asian Wrestling squad after Inam skips event
Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) has added double cross public boss Nouman Zaka to the public wrestling crew which will highlight in the Asian Wrestling Titles made tentative plans for April 9-14 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
A senior PWF official told on Wednesday, “Yes, we have added Nouman (86 kg) to the squad, which also includes Inayatullah and Mohammad Bilal.”
Mohammad Inam, the nation’s top wrestler, was initially scheduled to compete in the 86 kg division at the Asian Championships. However, he decided not to participate because he was scheduled to attend an Olympic Solidarity coaching course in Budapest, Hungary.
On Wednesday, Inam disclosed to “The News” that he would travel to Hungary on April 2 and return on June 2 following completion of the two-month course. He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) for managing the opportunity for him.
Inam stated that he would continue training throughout the course and would compete in the World Beach Wrestling Series in Singapore in June and the World Beach Games in Bali in August, both of which Indonesia would host.
However, Inam stated that he would participate in the World Championships in Serbia in September. Nouman, who is from Gujranwala and plays for Inam’s club, was a member of Pakistan’s team that competed in the Islamic Games last year in Turkey.
Inayat, a Youth Olympics bronze medalist, will compete in the 74 kg weight class, and Bilal, Inam’s cousin, will compete in the 57 kg weight class in the continental event.
Because Pakistan will only be able to compete in the weight classes at the Asian Championships that it will compete in at the World Championships, the Astana competition is very important to Pakistani wrestlers.
