PSL 8: Muhammad Akhlaq is delighted with his match-winning half-century
Muhammad Akhlaq, the debutant right-handed opener for Karachi Kings, was pleased with his match-winning half-century against Lahore Qalandars in the final group match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight.
Akhlaq, who was named player of the match for his magnificent 51 that propelled the Kings to a competitive total, spoke with the media and expressed his delight with his outstanding performance.
“I’m thankful to Almighty Allah for granting me respect in my debut match. “It felt great to play for Karachi Kings,” Akhlaq said.
“I’ve played for Islamabad [United] and Karachi [Kings] and enjoyed my time being in both sides and also learn a lot. “However, the Almighty Allah granted with respect in Karachi [Kings],” he maintained.
The right-handed batter then discussed the Kings’ performance in the PSL 8, claiming that a few close losses and subpar death bowling derailed their path to the playoffs.
“Our team was outstanding but we’ve been unlucky in this tournament as we lost most of the matches by close margins. So I believe it was just bad luck. Things were going well, but we couldn’t get satisfactory results,” Akhlaq explained.
“The main reason for our losses was that we struggled in the death bowling, we couldn’t bowl well in the last five overs of the innings,” he added.
It is important to note that the Kings’ bowlers savaged the Qalandars’ batting lineup after Akhlaq helped the Kings reach 196/7 to notch an emphatic 86-run victory.
The Kings finished fifth in the PSL 8 after a dominant victory over Qalandars in their final match, with six points in ten matches.
