Ramiz Raja and Aamer Sohail, Pakistan’s opening pair for the 1992 World Cup, are about to rejoin.

The broadcasters have secured Ramiz and Aamer as their commentators for the next Test series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Ramiz himself made the announcement of his return to the commentary scene via Twitter.

“‘Camera’, ‘Sound’ and ‘Action!’ Back in the comm box for Pak vs SL series,” he shared on July 6.

It will be Ramiz’s first duty as a commentator since his election as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2021. Ramiz continued in the PCB office until December 2022, when Najam Sethi, a two-time past board chairman, was chosen to lead a management committee by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also serves as the PCB’s patron.

Ramiz took a hiatus after losing his position as PCB chairman and avoided the spotlight. However, he has chosen to return to commentary, which has been his primary employment since he retired from international cricket, once more.

Although Ramiz and Aamer frequently worked together on commentary, they haven’t recently shared the comm box.

Aamer recently called the T20 series between Pakistan and Afghanistan in March of this year.

Aamer’s name was mentioned for a crucial position in the new structure earlier this month, when a new Management Committee headed by former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf was appointed.

Aamer, however, denied all of the allegations and sought to carry on as a cricket analyst and authority.
