Former Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has officially signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami, reuniting with his close friend Lionel Messi in the United States. The 36-year-old Uruguayan striker, who recently left Brazilian side Gremio, is set to embark on a new chapter in North America, bringing his prolific goal-scoring prowess to the MLS.

The announcement, made through a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), featured an image showcasing four young players from Inter Miami’s academy donning jerseys bearing the names of Suarez, Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. This reunion marks the first gathering of the Barcelona companions since their successful five-year spell at Camp Nou in La Liga.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new challenge, Suarez stated, “I’m very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami. I can’t wait to get started, and I’m ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great club a reality.”

Suarez, who excelled at Liverpool before his time at Barcelona and later Atletico Madrid, arrives in Miami on a free transfer, showcasing superb form despite approaching the final years of his career. In his recent stint with Gremio, Suarez was crowned the top player and goalscorer in the Brasileirao, contributing 26 goals and 17 assists in 53 appearances, ultimately helping Gremio secure the Campeonato Gaúcho and Recopa Gaúcha.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham expressed his delight in convincing Suarez to join their project, while managing director Jorge Mas hailed the iconic Uruguay international as a “world-class” addition to their roster.

Suarez’s move to Inter Miami not only adds a seasoned and accomplished striker to the MLS but also intensifies the allure of the league, showcasing its increasing appeal among top-tier footballers. As Suarez prepares to don the Inter Miami colors, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the rekindling of the potent partnership with Messi that once dazzled audiences at Camp Nou.
