ISLAMABAD: International hockey action is returning to Pakistan as the South Korean national team arrived in the country for a four-match test series against Pakistan, marking a significant step towards the revival of the national sport on the global stage.
The tour, scheduled from July 30 to August 8, will see both teams compete at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad, where fans will witness international hockey after a period of limited global sporting engagements.
According to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, the South Korean team will play four international test matches against Pakistan during its stay. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has also released the schedule for the series, which will continue until August 7.
The ministry said the visit would provide fresh momentum to efforts aimed at restoring international hockey activities in Pakistan.

It added that comprehensive security arrangements, protocol, and administrative facilities have been arranged to ensure a smooth and successful tour for the visiting team.
Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah described the South Korean hockey team’s visit as a historic development for the revival of Pakistan’s national sport. He said the series would not only help promote hockey within the country but also showcase Pakistan’s peaceful and secure image internationally.
Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohiuddin Wani said the tour would play an important role in promoting sports diplomacy and further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and South Korea.
He expressed hope that international sporting engagements would continue to increase, contributing to the revival of hockey and bringing more global teams and competitions back to Pakistan.
