Jordan Henderson’s tumultuous stint in Saudi Arabia may be cut short as Italian powerhouse Juventus enters advanced discussions to secure the Liverpool legend on loan. Reports suggest that the 33-year-old midfielder, who made headlines with his move to Al-Ettifaq just six months ago, is experiencing discomfort due to challenging weather conditions in Saudi Arabia, prompting his desire for an early exit.

Despite Henderson’s aspiration to return to the Premier League, minimal interest has been shown from English clubs. However, Dutch giants Ajax have reportedly inquired about the availability of the experienced midfielder. The latest development sees Juventus leading the race for Henderson’s signature, engaging in talks with the player and his representatives to arrange a loan deal.

Juventus aims to secure Henderson’s services on loan rather than a permanent transfer, a proposition that Al-Ettifaq seems willing to consider. The Saudi league is reportedly cautious about hindering the departure of discontented players, recognizing the potential impact on attracting talent in the future.

The proposed loan deal would not incur any loan fee for Juventus, and Henderson is reportedly seeking an 18-month stay, covering the remainder of his contract with Al-Ettifaq. To facilitate the move, Henderson is willing to take a substantial pay cut from his current £692,000-per-week deal in Saudi Arabia.

As the season reaches its midway point, Juventus has reportedly offered a salary of €2 million (£1.7 million) for the remainder of the campaign, representing a significant 90 percent reduction from Henderson’s current earnings. The midfielder is reportedly prepared to accept these terms to revive his career in top-level football, with aspirations of earning a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming Euros.

Juventus manager Max Allegri has reportedly approved the signing, recognizing Henderson’s potential to bring much-needed experience to the midfield. Henderson, who has made 17 appearances and contributed four assists in the Saudi Pro League this season, is eager to make a comeback in a more competitive league.

Despite Henderson’s individual contributions, Al-Ettifaq has faced challenges in the Saudi Pro League, enduring a nine-game winless streak and currently holding the 8th position in the table, 28 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal. The potential move to Juventus could provide Henderson with a fresh start and an opportunity to make a significant impact in Serie A.
