England’s attempt to secure a series-clinching victory over Pakistan was interrupted by rain on Saturday, with no play possible before lunch on the third day of the second Test at Lord’s.
However, weather conditions had started to improve, and the umpires planned to inspect the ground at 1:15 p.m. local time, or 1215 GMT, provided there was no further rain.
England, who are looking to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, are in a strong position at 81-3 in their second innings.
Their overall lead of 261 runs is more than Pakistan have scored in any of their three completed innings in the series so far.
Pakistan have also never scored more than 234 runs in the fourth innings of a Test against England in England.
The hosts bowled Pakistan out for just 110 runs on Friday, with seamer Ollie Robinson taking 4-11 in 13 overs.
England opener Emilio Gay, who is under pressure, will resume on 30 not out, while Harry Brook is unbeaten on seven.
Gay began his innings on Friday with an average of just 22.50 from his first eight Test innings, amid questions about where talented England batsman Jacob Bethell might fit into the team once he regains fitness.
Meanwhile, Brook is looking for his first Test century in more than a year despite being ranked as the No. 1 batsman in Test cricket.
