Azam Khan, a forceful wicketkeeper-batsman, believes that it takes time for a player to deliver in international cricket.

The 25-year-old is set to return in the T20I series against Ireland after missing the New Zealand T20I series due to a calf muscle tear.

Speaking to the press in Lahore on Sunday, Azam expressed his desire to perform to the best of his abilities for Pakistan.

“We are not robots that you press a button and we start performing. We all want to perform for the Pakistan team because that’s how you build your name. If given an opportunity, I will try to give my best,” he stated.

In addition, Azam mentioned that he is capable of batting at any position in the lineup and is prepared for the challenge if given the chance.

“There is no pressure of power-hitting. A batter needs to see the situation and take responsibility.

“I try to take advantage of the opportunity. If management sends me to any position, I am ready to bat,” he further added.

It’s worth noting that Azam has participated in eight T20Is for Pakistan, scoring only 29 runs.
