PCB announces Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup 2024
On Friday, Pakistan announced their squad for the ICC World Cup 2024, captained by the renowned batsman Babar Azam.
The team includes celebrated players such as Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman. The World Cup is set to commence on June 1 in the United States and West Indies.
Newcomers Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Usman Khan, Azam Khan, and Abbas Afridi will make their debut in a T20 World Cup. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim are set to return to the tournament after their last appearances in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
The announcement made no mention of reserve players for the World Cup squad.

The PCB expressed in a press release, “This is an extremely talented and balanced side that has a mixture of youth and experience. These players have been playing together for some time and look well prepared and settled for next month’s event.”
Regarding Haris Rauf’s fitness, the statement continued, “Haris Rauf is fully fit and bowling well in the nets. It would have been nice if he had gotten an outing at Headingley, but we remain confident that he will continue to maintain an upward trajectory in the upcoming matches, as he will have an important role to play along with other strike bowlers in the T20 World Cup.”
Pakistan finds itself in Group A for the tournament, alongside India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA.
