PCB responds to BCB’s requests security consultant for Pakistan tour
The PCB has addressed the BCB’s request for a security consultant for their upcoming tour in Pakistan.
An official from the BCB mentioned their intention to bring a government-appointed security consultant for the Pakistan tour. The Bangladesh team plans to land in Islamabad on August 17, with the inaugural Test match slated for August 21.
Jalal Yunus, the BCB Cricket Operations Chairman, emphasized that Pakistan is committed to providing top-tier security, stating, “During the Asia Cup, the Bangladesh team was provided state-level security,” and added, “Several international teams have toured Pakistan and were satisfied with the security. We are also concerned about security, but we have been given a lot of assurances. We have requested a security consultant from the government to ensure constant communication with the consultant.”
On the other hand, a PCB spokesperson commented on the BCB’s request, noting, “Security managers or consultants are now considered part of the player support personnel just like a media manager or a team doctor. Even at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and other bilateral series, teams have travelled with security managers.
“If the BCB wants to include a security consultant as part of their team management for the upcoming Test tour, then it is their prerogative. But as of now, the BCB have not expressed any security concerns with the PCB.
“In fact, and as part of international norms, the PCB shared the security plan along with the MoU with the BCB last month and received no queries or additional requests.”
It’s also reported that the Bangladesh A team will arrive in Islamabad on August 7 without a security consultant.
The Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh A are scheduled to compete in two four-day matches from August 10-13 and August 17-20, with the venues yet to be confirmed. These matches will be followed by a series of three 50-over games on August 23, 25, and 27.
