Rawalpindi: The much-anticipated series between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka ‘A’ kicks off tomorrow with the first of two four-day games at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The second four-day match will be held from 18 to 21 November, followed by a three-match 50-over series from 25 to 29 November at the same venue.
The four-day matches will begin at 9:30 AM, with the toss scheduled for 9:00 AM. Mohammad Huraira will lead Pakistan Shaheens for the first time, while Sri Lanka ‘A’ will be captained by Pasindu Sooriyabandara in the four-day games and Nuwanidu Fernando during the 50-over series.
Among the 14-member squad for Pakistan Shaheens, five players – Haider Ali, Hussain Talat, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and Rohail Nazir – have international experience, while four others – Ali Zaryab, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rameez Jr., and Saad Khan – featured in the four-day series against Bangladesh ‘A’ earlier this year.
Huraira expressed his excitement about leading the team, stating, “It is an honor to lead Pakistan Shaheens. Our squad has been training well and is ready to perform. This series is a great opportunity for players to showcase their skills and get noticed by selectors for future international appearances.”
Sri Lanka ‘A’ captain, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, praised Pakistan’s hospitality and spoke about his team’s preparations. “We have a solid batting line-up and a strong bowling attack. We aim to take it one game at a time and perform well throughout the series.”
