PCB Announces Champions T20 Cup Schedule
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the schedule for the much-anticipated Champions T20 Cup, which will take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from December 7 to 25.
Five teams – ABL Stallions, Engro Dolphins, Lake City Panthers, Nurpur Lions, and UMT Markhors – will compete for the prestigious title. This tournament is the second event in the Champions Cup series, following the success of the 50-over tournament in Faisalabad in September, where the Lake City Panthers defeated the UMT Markhors in a thrilling final.
The PCB has scheduled the Champions T20 Cup to be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with 22 matches spread over 19 days. This includes six double-headers and eight single-headers, giving fans plenty of action to enjoy. Double-header matches will start at 11 am and 3:30 pm, while single-header games will begin at 12 pm.
A new format will add to the competition’s intensity, with the top team after the double-league stage advancing directly to the final. The second and third-placed teams will face off in a Qualifier on December 23. The final will take place on December 25 at 3:30 pm.
The tournament’s schedule has been carefully designed to allow fans to follow Pakistan’s men’s cricket team during their series in South Africa from December 10 to 22. Each team is guaranteed eight matches, providing ample opportunities to develop their strategies and showcase emerging talent.
The tournament will also serve as a platform for selectors to scout potential national team players, and top performers may attract attention from Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises.
To accommodate this, the PCB has rescheduled the final round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches. The last fixture between Lahore Whites and Sialkot will be played from December 27-31, with the five-day final scheduled from January 2-6.
The Champions T20 Cup will kick off on December 7 with a double-header featuring ABL Stallions against Lake City Panthers, followed by Nurpur Lions against UMT Markhors. The first round of matches will take place from December 7 to 13, with the second round running from December 15 to 21.
In preparation, the PCB will assist team mentors in assembling their squads in Rawalpindi starting November 28. Practice sessions and warm-up matches will take place at Diamond Cricket Ground, KRL Stadium, and National Ground.
