Asia Cup 2025: India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets despite 171-run target
ABU DHABI: India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in another high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 clash, successfully chasing a target of 172 runs in the 19th over.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 171 runs for the loss of five wickets. Sahibzada Farhan played a steady knock of 58 off 45 balls, while Fakhar Zaman scored 15 before being controversially given out by the third umpire. Other contributions came from Saim Ayub (21), Captain Agha Salman (17), Faheem Ashraf (20 off 8), and Mohammad Nawaz (21). India’s Shivam Dube took two wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one each.
In reply, India chased down the target comfortably. Abhishek Sharma starred with a blistering 74 off 39 balls, supported by Shubman Gill’s 47 from 28 balls. Tilak Varma added 30, while Sanju Samson chipped in with 13. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf claimed two wickets, while Abrar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf took one each.
The match also saw heated moments between Haris Rauf and Abhishek Sharma, further intensifying the rivalry.
Before the game, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav chose to field first, citing dew conditions as the key factor. Pakistan captain Agha Salman admitted he would have bowled first too, but expressed confidence in his side’s batting.
