KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has achieved another milestone in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League 2026.

Babar Azam completed 500 runs in the tournament during the qualifier match against Islamabad United, further strengthening his dominance as one of the league’s most consistent performers.

With this achievement, he has become the first player to cross the 500-run mark four times in different PSL seasons. He previously reached this milestone in the 2024, 2023, and 2021 editions of the tournament.

Other notable players who have achieved 500-plus runs in a PSL season include Mohammad Rizwan (three times), while Fakhar Zaman and Kusal Mendis have reached the landmark once each.

Babar Azam equals Fakhar Zaman’s record for most runs in a PSL season

Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has equalled the record for most runs in a single season of the Pakistan Super League.

During the PSL Qualifier on Tuesday, Babar Azam played a knock of 103 runs off 59 balls against Islamabad United.

With this innings, Babar has taken his tally to 588 runs in 10 innings in PSL 2026.

He has now matched the record previously held by Fakhar Zaman, who scored 588 runs in 13 innings during the 2022 season.

Notably, Babar Azam still has at least one and potentially two matches remaining, giving him a strong chance to surpass the record.

Earlier, in the Qualifier of the Pakistan Super League Season 11, Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field against Peshawar Zalmi.

The match is being played in Karachi, where Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan decided to put Zalmi into bat first.

The winner of today’s match will directly qualify for the final, while the losing side will not be eliminated from the tournament and will still have another opportunity to reach the final through the next stage.
