The Lahore traffic authorities have introduced a new facility for citizens applying for driving licenses by setting up free medical fitness certificate centers at government hospitals across the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore said that people can now obtain medical fitness certificates without any charges from designated public hospitals. In the first phase, the service has been launched in 13 government hospitals in Lahore.
Special medical counters have been established at DHQ Mian Mir Hospital, DHQ Mozang, General Hospital Ghaziabad and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sabzazar. The facility is also available at Government Hospital Samanabad, Qila Gujjar Singh, Shahdara, Bilal Ganj, Sodiwal, Kahna, Raiwind and Swami Nagar hospitals.
Officials said medical fitness certificates are compulsory for obtaining a commercial driving license and for applicants aged over 50 years. The initiative has been introduced to make the process easier and reduce difficulties faced by citizens.
The CTO also announced the introduction of a digital system to prevent the use of fake medical certificates. Online verification of medical records will improve transparency, accountability and public confidence in the driving license process.
According to the authorities, the move is part of wider efforts to modernize traffic services and enhance the efficiency of public service delivery in Lahore.
