Bale was previously the most expensive player in the world and has spent the last eight seasons at Real Madrid, where he has won three domestic crowns and five Champions League trophies.
The Welshman has scored 139 league goals for his club and 39 international goals in 106 appearances.
Bale was instrumental in Wales’ qualification for this year’s World Cup, where they will face the United States, England, and Iran in Qatar.
It is the first time since 1958 that Wales has qualified for the tournament.
The signing of Bale coincides with LAFC’s efforts to build on a successful start to the MLS season.
With 30 points from 15 games, the California club leads the Western Conference standings.
Bale will be the club’s second high-profile overseas acquisition in recent weeks. Giorgio Chiellini, a former Juventus player and Italy international, joined the team earlier this month.
