Todd Boehly was designated as the new chairman of Chelsea on Wednesday, replacing Bruce Buck. He will also serve as interim sporting director after the club announced Marina Granovskaia’s resignation.
As part of a restructuring at Stamford Bridge, Granovskaia is quitting her position as director, leaving co-controlling owner Boehly to lead Chelsea’s transfer discussions.

Following Boehly-Clearlake Capital’s acquisition of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, the club’s new board now includes all of the consortium’s most prominent figures.
“As custodians of Chelsea FC, we now begin executing our long-term vision and plan for the club, creating an outstanding experience for its passionate, loyal fans, and continuing to challenge for top honors in line with Chelsea FC’s dedicated history,” said Todd Boehly.
“Working together, side by side, we are firmly committed to winning, both on and off the pitch. For us, that effort has begun.”
Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, co-controlling owners of Chelsea and leaders of Clearlake, have joined the Blues’ new board.
Co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Mark Walter, Swiss tycoon Hansjoerg Wyss and British entrepreneur Jonathan Goldstein have been formally appointed to the Chelsea board.
With Granovskaia’s departure after nearly two decades at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will now begin its search for a permanent sporting director.

During Abramovich’s stint at Chelsea, Granovskaia rose to fame as one of the fiercest negotiators in football.
“Boehly will operate as interim sporting director until the club names a full-time replacement, continuing the club’s work towards its targets during the current transfer window,” said Chelsea’s statement
To aid the club’s transition, Granovskaia will remain available during the current transfer window.
The Chelsea summer transfer market will be quite active.
Romelu Lukaku is expected to return to Inter Milan on loan after a disastrous stint with Chelsea.

The team, which finished third in the Premier League last season, has been linked with Jules Kounde of Sevilla, Raheem Sterling of Manchester City, and Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona.
