DHAKA: : Former IPL player Mustafizur Rahman is set to make an appearance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), sources confirm.
According to insiders, eight Bangladeshi cricketers, including Mustafizur Rahman, have registered their interest to participate in the PSL this season. Registration numbers for Bangladeshi players are expected to rise ahead of the league.
Alongside Mustafizur Rahman, notable players who have registered include Shakib Al Hasan, Touhid Hridoy, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain, as well as Tanzeed Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, and Hasan Mahmud.
Sources indicate that more Bangladeshi cricketers may join the league as the season approaches.
Players have the option to enter the draft or auction, and discussions are ongoing with team owners regarding team selection.
Final team allocations are expected to be announced in the last week of January.
Earlier, Bangladesh has imposed a ban on the telecast of the Indian Premier League (IPL), just a day after announcing that it would not send its national team to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The development follows an incident in which Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after receiving threats from Hindu extremist groups.
In response, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) convened an emergency meeting and recommended to the government that the national team should not travel to India for the T20 World Cup due to security concerns.
