WhatsApp may include the ability to edit messages (Credits: Google)
- WhatsApp looks to be working on a feature Twitter has been working on for years.
- It’s unclear if edits will be permanent or just for a limited period of time.
WhatsApp looks to be working on a feature that we’ve been wishing Twitter would add for a long time: the ability to edit posted messages.
The functionality is already in development, according to WABetaInfo (via 9to5Mac), and the outlet has an image to prove it, displaying a “edit” option for a delivered message in WhatsApp for Android.
It’s unclear if texts will be editable indefinitely or for a limited period of time.

According to WABetaInfo, the functionality isn’t even accessible for beta testers yet, but it will most likely appear shortly. It should also be available on WhatsApp for iOS and the desktop version of the app.
WhatsApp offered the option to remove transmitted messages five years ago, but the new capability might come in handy if you need to correct a typo without having to delete and resend the message (potentially confusing the receiving party).

WhatsApp just added a number of much-needed improvements, including the ability to submit message reactions and the option to establish groups with up to 512 members.
In terms of Twitter, we just need to discuss it in the context of altering messages that have already been sent. It’s something Twitter has been working on for a long, and there have lately been indications that the functionality would be released shortly.
