To improve the audio of its library of original movies, Netflix has introduced spatial audio for all platforms.
The functionality should provide more immersive sound, especially for users who wear headphones to view a TV show or a movie.
The extended spatial audio output was created in partnership between Sennheiser and Netflix and can be broadcast through stereo speakers or headphones without the use of extra hardware or a professional surround setup.
Content that supports it will now use Sennheiser’s Ambeo 2-Channel Spatial Audio format rather than the stereo output on the Netflix platform.
Ambeo uses any Dolby Atmos or surround sound audio files that are offered for the chosen content to create a more immersive stereo profile.
Additionally, Netflix offers 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos audio on Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad devices to provide a great surround sound experience.
On a compatible Apple device, the “Streaming quality” parameter needs to be set to “High or Auto” in order to listen to spatial audio.
All Netflix users will be able to use the feature, and it will even function on gadgets that don’t typically support spatial audio.
Although there isn’t much Netflix content that makes use of the spatial audio capability right now, users may utilize the search bar to find all of the series and movies that do.
Red Notice, The Witcher, Locke & Key, The Adam Project, and Stranger Things 4 are a few of the early favorites.
