According to the outage monitoring website Downdetector.com, Meta Platforms Inc.’s (META.O) social media apps were unavailable on Wednesday for thousands of users in the United States.
According to Downdetector.com, around 13,000 occurrences involving the Facebook app and more than 18,000 cases involving the Instagram app were reported by users. According to data from Downdetector.com, outage reports for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp also increased.
By combining status information from many sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform, Downdetector keeps track of outages.
Big Tech platform outages are widespread; businesses as diverse as Google and Microsoft have experienced service interruptions.
Earlier on Wednesday, Microsoft (MSFT.O) had a networking outage that affected millions of customers worldwide and brought down its cloud platform Azure as well as applications like Teams and Outlook.
