WhatsApp starts testing new feature, voice recordings as status updates
San Francisco: Meta-owned messaging network WhatsApp is reportedly launching a new “voice status updates” feature on Android beta, allowing users to submit voice notes via status updates.
WABetaInfo reports that beta testers can now share voice notes as status updates by accessing the new functionality within the text status area.
The program also gives users more control over their voice recordings by allowing them to delete recordings before sharing them.
A voice note can only be recorded for 30 seconds, and users must update their WhatsApp version to listen to voice notes posted via status.
Voice notes posted as status updates will be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only the people users specify in their privacy settings can hear them.
Voice notes sent via status, like photos and videos, will be deleted after 24 hours.
Furthermore, after sharing voice notes as status updates, users can erase them for everyone.
According to the report, the new feature will be made available to more users in the coming weeks.
