ChatGPT set a new record for fastest-growing user base in history
ChatGPT, the famous chatbot from OpenAI, is expected to have surpassed 100 million monthly active users in January, just two months after launch, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history, according to a UBS study released on Wednesday,
According to the research, which cited data from analytics firm Similarweb, an average of roughly 13 million unique visitors used ChatGPT per day in January, more than doubling the numbers seen in December.
“In 20 years of following the internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer internet app,” UBS analysts wrote in the note.
According to Sensor Tower data, TikTok reached 100 million users nine months after its global introduction, whereas Instagram took two and a half years.
In response to questions, ChatGPT can generate articles, essays, jokes, and even poetry. In late November, OpenAI, a private startup sponsored by Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O), made it freely available to the public.
OpenAI introduced a $20 monthly subscription on Thursday, initially for users in the United States alone. According to the corporation, it will deliver a more stable and speedier service as well as the option to test new features early.
Analysts believe that the viral launch of ChatGPT will provide OpenAI with a competitive advantage over other AI firms.
While increasing usage imposes significant computing costs on OpenAI, it has also offered vital feedback to help train the chatbot’s responses.
According to the company, subscription money will help pay computer costs.
