WhatsApp status updates are a popular way to exchange information with friends and family. Every status is deleted after 24 hours and can include photographs, videos, GIFs, text, and other media. Your WhatsApp status, like your personal chats and calls, is protected by end-to-end encryption, allowing you to share quietly and securely.

We’re delighted to introduce a number of new status features on WhatsApp that will make it easier to express yourself and connect with others.

Because the status you share may not always be appropriate for all of your contacts, you may now select who sees your status when you update it. Your most recent audience choice will be remembered and used as the default for your next status.

Private Audience Selector

The status you share may not always be right for all of your contacts, so you can now choose who views your status each time you update it. Your most recent audience selection will be saved and used as the default for your next status.

Voice Status

On WhatsApp status, we’re introducing the option to record and share voice messages of up to 30 seconds. Voice status can be utilized to send more personal updates, especially if you prefer to express yourself verbally rather than typing.

Status Reactions

Status replies are being added to enable a quick and easy way to respond to status changes from your contacts. Swiping up and tapping on one of the eight emoticons () allows you to instantly respond to any update. You can still respond to a status update via text, voice message, sticker, or other means.

Rings for New Updates on Status Profile

You’ll never miss a status update from a loved one with the new status ring. When your contact posts a status update, this ring will appear around their profile picture. It will appear in the chat lists, group participant lists, and contact information.

Link Previews on Status

When you add a link to your status, you’ll now see a visual preview of its content, similar to when you send a message. Visual previews improve the appearance of your status updates and give your contacts a clearer understanding of what the link is before they click.

These upgrades have begun to be sent to users worldwide and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
