WhatsApp will soon include pinned messages & call shortcuts
For the time being, WhatsApp allows you to star messages so you can return to them later. However, these are only visible to the person who saves them in a chat and may only be accessed via chat options.
WhatsApp, like rival IM apps Discord, Telegram, and others, is working on the ability to pin messages in a discussion. The feature was discovered by WABetaInfo in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (2.23.3.17).
Like starred messages, pin messages allow you to store key discussions for later. Tapping on a pinned message returns you to the original message in the conversation. Unlike starred messages, however, pinned messages are visible to everyone in the chat.
If you don’t have WhatsApp’s most recent update for pinned messages, the app will prompt you to do so in order to enable it.
Because this functionality is currently accessible in beta, it should shortly be available in the stable version.
With a new upgrade, WhatsApp also intends to make calls easier and faster. Like chat shortcuts, the app will soon allow you to add call shortcuts to your phone’s home screen, allowing you to make a call without having to open the app.
You can create a call shortcut by navigating through the call options in your WhatsApp contacts. WhatsApp will allow you to add call shortcuts for certain contacts here.
This feature was also discovered in one of the most recent beta WhatsApp versions for Android, indicating that it would be widely available shortly.
According to a recently leaked safety assessment, WhatsApp will block even more accounts in December 2022. According to the report, WhatsApp banned over 3.6 million “bad” accounts during the month.
These accounts were discovered to be in violation of WhatsApp’s rules and practices. According to Meta, they proactively banned these accounts prior to receiving any user reports, indicating that the firm took the initiative to remove these accounts from their systems.
