Google Chat now has new features for space managers
Google revealed new tools for space managers in Google Talk, including the ability to decide whether members can add or remove members or groups from a space.
The company also unveiled the “Space configuration” tool, which will allow space managers to choose whether or not users will be able to edit space parameters such as the name, icon, description, and guidelines, as well as toggle Chat history on/off for the space.
The “Conversation moderation” feature, on the other hand, “authorizes space managers to determine whether members can use @all in a space”, according to a Workspace Updates blog post published on Monday by the tech giant.
The new features lack administrative oversight and are only available to people with personal Google accounts.
Managers can currently remove and add people, delete a space, delete messages, alter the space description, and change the access level of a space from restricted to discoverable or vice versa.
In November of last year, Google added conversation summaries in Google Chat for messages in “Spaces,” which will summarize talks for Premium Workspace customers.
