Intel’s next-generation processors will purportedly support the yet-to-be-announced Windows 12. The hardware leaker @leafhobby, who is infamous for exposing the exact specifications of Intel’s Xeon CPUs before release, has revealed details about Intel’s Meteor Lake desktop platform, according to The Verge, citing sources.

Unfortunately, the tweet has now been deleted.

Internally, the chipmaker stated that its next-generation processors will support Windows 12.

Meteor Lake is expected to offer 20 PCIe Gen5 lanes as well as Windows 12 capabilities.

Microsoft has not revealed its plans for Windows 12, but there are already clues that the corporation aims to integrate AI-powered features in future versions of Windows.

“As we start to develop future versions of Windows, we’ll think about other places where AI should play a natural role in terms of the experience,” Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s head of consumer marketing, said earlier this week in an interview.

Mehdi’s remark follows after Windows head Panos Panay’s statement at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year that “AI is going to redefine how you do everything on Windows.”

According to the report, if Microsoft intends to deploy AI more widely in its forthcoming generation of Windows, it will need to work closely with hardware partners such as Intel and AMD to optimise chips that can handle AI tasks.
