WhatsApp Beta: Redesigned Security Notifications
Recent beta versions of WhatsApp have provided users with a preview of upcoming features not yet available to the general public. However, it’s worth noting that not all beta features make it to the final release, as only some minor UI tweaks usually make the cut. The latest reports reveal that WhatsApp is redesigning its Security notifications menu for the beta version, with changes in phrasing and font size.
According to WABetaInfo, the redesigned feature is part of WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.15.21, and it has started rolling out to selected users via the Play Store. Screenshots show a significant difference between the old and new UI of the Security notifications page. The header image has been redesigned, and the text below is now centered and rephrased as “WhatsApp protects your privacy.” The end-to-end encryption disclaimer is also centered, accompanied by more extensive bullet points below, now with green icons instead of the standard gray ones. These bullet points detail WhatsApp features inaccessible to developers or the parent company.
Reports indicate that the new look menu is live on Google Pixel 6a, running WhatsApp beta version 2.23.15.22. While these changes won’t alter the way users interact with WhatsApp, they do demonstrate the app’s renewed focus on highlighting its security credentials. This move comes at a time when concerns about government surveillance are at their peak worldwide, making such changes timely and welcomed.
