YouTube Premium Subscribers are now Getting Ads
  • YouTube is taking active measures to increase ad revenue, including combating ad blockers.
  • Even YouTube Premium subscribers are not entirely immune to ads, as some may still encounter them.
  • The frequency and type of ads on YouTube Premium vary by user and region.

YouTube is actively working to boost its ad revenue, as evident in its recent global efforts against ad blockers. Surprisingly, even subscribers to YouTube Premium cannot avoid ads, as highlighted by a Reddit user.

The Reddit user highlights that, despite subscribing to YouTube Premium, some ads may still be visible. This contradicts the core idea of paying for an “ad-free experience.”

YouTube claims that Premium offers an “interruption-free” experience for ads during, before, or after videos, including various ad formats. Nevertheless, some other ads may still be visible.

The YouTube support page clarifies the situation as follows: “You may still see branding or promotions embedded in the content by the creator, as well as promotional links, shelves, and features in and around the content that are added or enabled by the creator. These links, shelves, and features could be for their website, merchandise, membership to their channel, event tickets, or other related destinations that they are promoting.”

YouTube‘s strategy in handling the mentioned ads might diverge from users’ past encounters, but it can be assured that ad blockers are now ineffective. The platform has encountered difficulties in detecting and addressing ad blockers.

It’s important to note that the ads in Premium may vary for each user. While some users experience an ad-free environment, others may encounter occasional advertisements. Additionally, the frequency of ads varies by region, as they are not served uniformly everywhere.
