WhatsApp Unveils Picture-in-Picture Feature for Videos
WhatsApp has finally introduced its highly awaited picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for video calls. This useful feature allows users to shrink their video call window, so they can multitask while using other apps on their phone. Let’s take a look at what PiP mode offers and how to use it effectively.
Imagine you’re on a WhatsApp video call with a friend but need to check your calendar or quickly respond to an important email. Before PiP, you would have to end the call or minimize the app, pausing the video.
But with PiP, you can minimize the video call window into a small, movable version. This lets you keep seeing your friend and hearing the conversation while doing other tasks on your phone.
PiP mode works like a small video player that sits on top of other apps. You can move it around the screen, adjust its size, or even minimize it completely to use the full screen for other things.
Currently, the PiP feature is only available for YouTube and Instagram videos in WhatsApp. This feature is included in WhatsApp’s latest beta version and also works for videos shared directly within the app. However, it’s important to note that PiP mode is limited to WhatsApp’s own videos and can’t be used when switching to another app.
