Meta-owned WhatsApp continuously enhances user experience by regularly updating its app. One of WhatsApp’s standout features is its end-to-end encryption, ensuring that personal conversations, images, videos, and other content remain secure.
Building on this, WhatsApp introduced the ‘Chat Lock’ feature last year, enabling users to secure sensitive conversations. Additionally, WhatsApp added the “Secret Code” feature, which enhances security by making locked conversations harder to find.
By creating a secret code, these locked chats won’t appear in your chat list and can only be accessed by entering the code into the search field. A secret code allows you to set a unique password for your encrypted chats, adding an extra layer of privacy.
To enable chat lock on WhatsApp:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- Swipe right or long-press the chat you want to lock.
- Select Lock Chat from the additional options.
- You can lock it using either face ID or fingerprint.
To set up WhatsApp’s secret code:
- Go to your encrypted chat folder.
- Enter settings, select secret code, and choose a code.
- Generate a code and click next.
- Confirm your code and click done.
