Google Gemini app now free for workspace users
Google announced at its virtual Gemini at Work summit that the Gemini app will soon be available to Workspace users at no extra cost for those with business subscriptions. While Workspace users have had access to AI features for some time, the standalone Gemini app has been exclusive until now.
The Gemini AI assistant will be accessible in two ways within Workspace: as an integrated assistant in apps like Docs, Sheets, and Meet, and as a standalone chatbot at gemini.google.com.
Previously, Gemini required an additional monthly fee on top of Workspace subscriptions—$20 per user for Gemini Business and $30 for Gemini Enterprise.
Starting October 15, Workspace users on Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans will be able to use the chatbot interface without any extra subscription costs.
The Gemini app allows users to interact with the AI assistant and ask questions about conversations within Workspace apps, ensuring company data remains secure.
Google also stated that Workspace users will have control over whether Gemini stores their prompts and responses, and for how long. Additionally, Google Gemini will power Snapchat’s My AI chatbot, enabling users to inquire about photos or videos they share.
