ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked nearly one million websites for distributing blasphemous and prohibited content. According to PTA officials, a total of 101,083 blasphemous URLs and over 844,000 immoral websites have been restricted.

This action follows a letter from the Ministry of Religious Affairs urging the PTA to block objectionable content on the internet. The PTA revealed that there are approximately 20 million daily attempts to access immoral websites in Pakistan.

“These immoral websites are blocked at the international gateway, but internet users try to access them using VPNs,” it said.

The PTA stated that the websites involved in spreading prohibited content are blocked based on information provided by government departments and citizens.
