Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, urged businesses and freelancers to register their IP addresses to ensure smooth access to virtual private networks (VPNs). This request comes as the country continues to face widespread internet and social media disruptions.

Khawaja acknowledged the ongoing challenges affecting internet and VPN usage and emphasized that the government understands the need to maintain stable digital communications. She also mentioned that the government is working to streamline the VPN registration process, which will remain in place for the time being.

The minister’s call for IP registration follows reports that contradict the government’s claims of uninterrupted internet services. According to real-time monitoring tools, users were still experiencing access restrictions to social media platforms.

Data from the Internet Outage Detection and Analysis (IODA), developed by the Georgia Institute of Technology, revealed persistent disruptions over the weekend. The tool measures network stability and highlights ongoing access issues, with some social media services being completely inaccessible for hours.
